not that i have noticed my brother-in-law uses it all the time and i have not noticed the smell

Is it safe to use for kids?

There is a junior version of the oilatum shampoo which might be a better option for kids. I don't think I could say one way or another if it is safe for kids but I can say it's not as harsh as it appears and does have a refreshing feel.
