So… my landlord is not great… something I think a lot of us know about… and I’m pretty sure the pest control guy is fleecing the property manager by not insisting on a full building treatment and instead only going apartment by apartment to spray poison… that doesn’t work… I confronted the pest control guy and at first he tried to bs me by telling me that if I was having roach problems then I should tell the property manager and then I caught shame in his eyes when I asked him what good will it do to have him spray my apartment when the roaches will just move into my neighbors apartment until the “poison” barrier dries and stops being as effective as it is when it’s first applied, and likewise I always know when he’s spraying other people’s apartments because the roaches come into my apartment. Heck, I saw roaches **in the hallway** before I got a single one of my things moved in. I kept all my furniture in the garage with a roach bomb until they came and sprayed the apartment. Little did I know that the spray didn’t do a damn thing. Cut to last week. I finally get a chance to apply this stuff. It comes out like really thin caulk but it isn’t super sticky… I’m sure the instructions say something about putting little lentil sized beads of poison every foot or so… but I ignored that. There’s a lot of spaces and cracks and crevices in my apartment so I squeezed pea sized beads into everywhere I could find that would fit a pea sized bead, and sometimes just put a spaghetti tangle if there was a big enough gap at the floorboards. It’s mostly easy to squeeze the gel out, but take frequent breaks to stretch your wrists… you’ll thank me later. It isn’t messy, thankfully, and the floorboard gaps are big enough that I don’t have to worry about the cats getting into it and getting poisoned. The roaches, however… oh man 😈 I’ve been finding dead bug after dead bug after dead bug. And all different types: German, Wood, brown banded… and I’m pretty sure I saw a dead wood louse as well. So it’s extremely toxic to roaches. Much more so than the “poison” that the pest control guy has been using. Before I started using this stuff, I would see these creepy looking wood roaches with deformed wings from where (I assume) the poison from the commercial pest control guy didn’t finish the job. I never saw a single dead roach (just deformed ones) until I started using this gel. Now I need to sweep the kitchen every morning to get rid of the neighbors dead roaches. Which, you would think I’d be mad, but I’m not. I’m happy they’re not alive and crawling around my apartment. (I don’t keep food out, I don’t keep dishes out. If there’s pantry food that gets opened, it goes into the fridge. With the dishes and silverware. Like where normal human people keep dishes and silverware) Anyhow, 10/10 and I’m not even halfway done with the first tube. It’s cheaper per application than the national brand and it kills all the roach species, not just the little round ones. And it’s more reliable than an apartment manager and the pest control guy.

Roach Problem? This Gel Is the “Nuclear Option” That Actually Works I keep this gel bait in the “break glass in case of emergency” category for roaches, especially the small German ones that show up out of nowhere and make you question everything you’ve ever cleaned. I’ve used it as part of a simple one-two combo: gel bait for the colony + sticky traps to monitor activity. When you do that, it’s one of the fastest ways I’ve found to turn “uh oh” into “okay, we’re back in control.” Application is pretty straightforward. It comes with a plunger and tips, and the gel squeezes out like a thin caulk. The key is placing small dots in the right spots (cracks, crevices, behind/under appliances, around plumbing penetrations, inside cabinet corners, along toe-kicks) rather than smearing it everywhere. In my experience, less is more if it’s placed strategically. Once it’s down, you start seeing the classic signs: increased activity briefly, then dead roaches showing up and the sightings start dropping off. What I like: * It’s targeted and doesn’t have that “I just fogged my kitchen” vibe. * You can put it where roaches actually travel and hide (the places sprays rarely reach). * It pairs really well with glue boards so you can measure progress instead of guessing. * One box goes a long way. You’re not going to blow through four tubes unless you’re treating a large area or a pretty serious infestation. Things to keep in mind: * It can dry out, especially if you put big globs. Small dots stay usable longer. * Don’t place it where kids/pets can access it. I treat it like any serious pest control product: deliberate placement only. * Avoid spraying strong insecticides right on top of the bait areas. You want roaches comfortable enough to feed and take it back with them. * Expect a short “die-off” period where you see more dead ones (and sometimes more movement) before it gets quiet. For anyone dealing with roaches in kitchens, garages, or around entry points, this is one of those products that feels like what the pros use because… it basically is. If you’re already seeing babies, this is exactly the kind of step-up product that can stop the cycle. Bottom line: A highly effective gel bait for knocking down roaches quickly when placed correctly—best used in small dots in cracks/crevices and paired with glue traps to track results. It’s not the “prettiest” task, but the results are worth it.

After 4 years of using the same regimen for pest control that was working well, the roaches became uncontrollable. I did a deep dive and decided to try Advion. It is super effective. I watched a bunch of videos of how to apply. I did not want to apple to the underside of cabinets and counters as some videos recommended. I have kids. So I opted to cut strips of cardboard and apply dots of advion so that the roaches could easily encounter the bait. I put a strip in each under-the-sink cabinet throughout my house to keep it out of reach of my kids. Within days I was no longer seeing any roaches. The pack comes with 4 syringes, a plunger, and two applicator tips. I used less than 1/4 of one syringe to treat my whole house. I cleaned the tip out with a running water and a toothpick to save it for the next time.

This stuff just WORKS. I tore out what's left of my hair, trying to deal with roaches coming in from a neighboring apt. Then a friend recommended Advion, so I got it and put the bait out according to the directions. Used NO other baits or deterrents, for a clean test. Overnight results! And by Day Two, they were utterly gone from everywhere. No smell, no mess, super-easy to apply, and the roaches seem to love it.... we could even say they are "dying to try it." *rimshot* Duration: I reapply every 6 months, and the bugs have not returned. 10/10
