Minneapolis's Motion City Soundtrack took the indie scene by storm with their 2003 debut, I Am The Movie . This follow-up represents a major step forward, a breakthrough release in the tradition of Jimmy Eat World's Bleed American or AFI's Sing The Sorrow ; a masterpiece of pop harmonies and sing along choruses layered on top of their trademark angular guitars, loopy synths, and stop/start dynamics. Produced by Mark Hoppus Blink 182. Review: great - Absolutely no problems. Arrived on time, well packaged, as described. :-) Review: Everything is alright!!! - 'Commit this to memory,' is another great album by Motion City Soundtrack. Instantly catchy guitars/keyboards/melodies/choruses etc. Definately one to buy if you are fan of bands like Jimmy Eat World, Death Cab for cutie etc. The DVD is pretty cool too. The documentary gives a fairly detailed insight into the personalities and life of the band. The Live show is good too, good picture, great sound. The videos are all fun to watch and the deleted scenes are also fun with a very honest interview from Justin Pierre which is quite eye opening...(Incase you are wondering the DVD is region free.) All in all an essential Motion City Soundtrack purchase!

Great!
On time and everything, although the plastic sealing was torn upon arrival, both discs are in perfect condition and at a great price.

Sounds sweet!
Quarantine turned me on to a lot of bands and artists that I otherwise wouldn't have given the time of day to in my former life. One of the greatest discoveries was Motion City Soundtrack, a Minnesota emo-rock band that had some pretty big success on the indie scene, but unlike Weezer or Jimmy Eat World before them, they never caught that same wave of success. I personally find it to be a shame that they're not that popular since I'd argue that this band's best material can stand toe-to-toe with the other bands I mentioned. Commit This to Memory is no exception either, as it sees the band turning in some of their finest songwriting, greatest performances, and the bittersweet lyrics that have become a trademark in MCS's palette. Mark Hoppus' production elevates everything to sounding amazing (and makes me wish that he'd produce Blink's latest albums instead of John Feldmann), and Justin Pierre, while not a perfect singer, gives it his all in every song. The guest appearances are a welcome addition too, with Mark himself popping in to sing the bridge of "Hangman", and Patrick Stump (lead singer of Fall Out Boy) bringing his smooth & iconic timbre to the backing vocals of "Everything Is Alright". Moving on to the vinyl, while I was looking to find a way to purchase this album on vinyl, I was a bit wary of getting it through Amazon. Most of the reviews leaned toward the pressing being not being that great, but I was willing to take a shot with it. However, having bought some of my current vinyl through Amazon and only having one be a true crapper (Billie Eilish's debut for those curious), I can confidently say that, better pressings are out there (I'd love to get my hands on the pink reissue SRC did a few years back), but this one is totally fine. Not great, but definitely good for the money, and gets the job done well enough.

Misleading Reviews
My copy has been great. No issues with skipping at all. There are definitely records better mastered for vinyl, but it sounds so much better than what the reviews are saying. Iโm betting most of the poor reviews are coming from people with cheap Crosley or ATLP60 turntables. Both of those are notorious for causing skipping of perfectly fine records due to their lousy design and cheap components. Bottom line, if you have a decent turntable this record will sound fine.

Can't put it down!
I have been a fan of this band since I saw a video on tv from their previous album. I have never been let down by their efforts. This is a solid album start to finish and I do suggest getting the special edition with the DVD extras! You really get to know the band more every time you pop in the cd or dvd. As with any band, not everyone will get into their music but you'd be surprised how easy you can get hooked.

Good pressing. Buy it.
Well pressed, minimal skips after the first couple of spins. Probably the most complete if not most enjoyable Motion City album (as a Twin Cities kid who first heard My Favorite Accident ripping through the speakers on a warped tour compilation nothing can hold a candle to I Am The Movie), itโs worth the purchase of itโs not in your vinyl collection.
