How durable are they? I prefer running and plyo in bare feet would these hold up where shoes are required?

Running outside, no. Plyo yes. They would NOT hold up where shoes are required. They are very comfortable and do have a rubber sole but they are not stable enough for running.

I am between a woman's size 8 and 8.5. Would you recommend a snug fit or loose?

I think the snug fit is great. I were the same size as you and bought a medium. They are so comfortable in my opinion
