I ve a bathroom that takes 7 rolls of wallpaper with a 10 foot 2" drop - Having applied the recommended 1 coat prior to hanging I used a quarter of this product Hope this helps X

is it good for painting over with emulsion, as I am currently able to peel off the previous top coat from my walls!!

unable to answer that question, I painted the plasterboard wall then wallpapered on top of it.I would be careful of painting on top of the sealer-- at least give it pleanty of time to dry-then dry again.

Would this work as a sealant primer for an Artex ceiling? Many thanks Amelia

I take it your Artex ceiling has been previously painted with emulsion paint. The only reason I would use a primer would be if the paint is pealing. I used this on a previously painted plastered wall where the previous painter had not cleaned or prepared the wall surface and the paint was lifting. When I pasted lining paper on the wall it bubbled and the edges lifted. I used this primer sealer to cover the entire wall and left it ti dry overnight. The previous paint layer held fast and cured the lifting of the old paint. This particular primer is used by pros who had lots of good things to say about it, check out a search on-line, I will definitely be using it again, it's great stuff.
If you are painting over a previously painted ceiling I would wash it with Sugar Soap, rinse and leave to dry overnight. Then your new emulsion paint should be secure. You may need two coats. To wash it you can use one of those spongy floor mops if it's easier for you. Good luck, DIY Mike.
