Can this pump be used in saltwater

Probably Yes because these pumps have operated very well in our birdbath that from time to time is cleaned out with harsh chlorine chemicals and the inner parts of the pump appear to be non-metallic.

Can this be used to drain a pond ?

If you have a long time. It is a small pond pump. Npot meant to use as a drain pump.

Can you use it for an outdoor shower?

I would think so, although I use it for a bubbling rock which lifts only 3 feet through a 3/4” tube.

Is there Dry burn protection built into the pump?

I can't remember for sure, but I thought there was.
