Glad I’ve got it!
This is my second purchase I bought one before so I can say that they are very effective- stopped the foxes and cats getting on my car. Now I need one for my rose bed. Great product only downfall - no off switch for when your working near it to turn it off for a while but apart from that it does what it says on the tin!

No off switch. Assembles easily.
Remember to check what frequency deters the specific animal you want out of your garden - simply google it ....then calculate where to set the dial. A frequency scale on the dial would be a good idea . No off switch. Only just installed - so no idea if it actually works yet.

Impossible to unscrew to insert batteries
Impossible to undo screws so put this in the recycling Tried various screwdrivers but the thread won’t catch Do not recommend this product Needs a better way to open the back or provide a key or better screws

Good sonic repellers
This make sonic frequency 'dot dot' noises at arount 17khz to 21khz. The sound, and red led is triggered by the PIR sensor. I have used 3 of these to deter teenagers and youths hanging around and causing criminal damage at back of my and my neighbours gardens. I wired in 5v to the battery terminals instead of using batteries and powered them with 5v (usb) dc adapter, plugged into a smart socket. I hung them on some tree branches so they move about in the wind and trigger the PIR sensor. Now, when I see activity at the back of my garden I say 'sonic rays on' and they turn on. The teens run for cover, some saying 'it is doing my head in' LOL. They also look like CCTV which is an additional deterrent.

Good but VERY loud and no on/off switch
It seems to be effective - I can't see how it won't be as the sound it emits is incredibly loud, not like a subtle faint beeping like on previous scarers I've had. Very antisocial! Also, no on/off switch, which may be fine for many, but I have a toddler and an indoors cat who occasionally goes outside on a lead, so would normally switch it off when they're in the garden, but I am unable to. I've positioned it at the bottom of the garden where they're less likely to trigger it, but still, if I needed it covering the main garden it would be useless to me. The only way to turn off is to unscrew the back and remove the batteries, so not really an option!

Hopsem ultrasonic device , mixed results, poor build quality for UK climate
I’ve been using the Hopsem for several weeks now. I originally bought two but one of the units would not detect a cat walking passed it at 1 metre? I contacted the seller who suggested I try a few things (mount 12cm above the ground and point slightly down) neither worked so they refunded me, which was great. The second unit has certainly deterred some cats (several cats just ignore it and walk slowly passed without a care in the world) and a fox certainly didn’t hang about when it activated ( I have security cameras that capture all the fun) I think the PIR is poor and quite tricky to get working correctly. The units are not waterproof! Heavy rain ( not unusual in the North of England 🫤) got inside the unit and fogged the PIR. I’ve since had to open it up and dry it out and apply silicone grease to all the joints/seams. There is a gasket on the battery compartment but not around the main unit so water gets in! Since using silicone grease the unit has remained dry. On reflection assuming it continues to work I will live with it. I’ve reported the issues to Hopsem who now choose to ignore me, so the good communications we had have disappeared. I’m not confident that my 5 year warranty is at all valid. I think the product is worth a shot with my modifications but totally over priced as it’s not designed for UK weather in its present form. If you buy one be prepared to return. I wouldn’t buy another.

Works well but
Seems to be working ok and very sensitive but beware the battery compartment shows all three batteries same way round and if you follow battery pictures it won’t work,
