Honestly for the price these aren't bad at all. I've used many similar patterns and these will catch fish no problem. I go through so many saltwater flies and just don't have time to tie anymore, let alone fish. Not many good fly shops near me that sell saltwater flies so I'm not feeling super guilty buying these from amazon. Couple of things. I noticed in other reviews that they slid down the hook shank. I've had that happen with many streamer flies and really the only way to prevent it is to add a dab of zap-a-gap super glue or head cement for fly tying around the head (don't use regular super glue from the hardware store, that stuff can dissolve over time). But it looks like the ones I got they already did a good job with the epoxy. Can't speak to the hook quality, we'll find out if it holds up to a decent sized fish but they are large and seem strong. You get what you pay for tho so I'm not expecting much. Nice colors, but I really only care about the green/chartruese/yellow. Black is always a good color but I'm curious to try the blues (almost like a juvenille shad or mackeral imitation). The pink/purple would be great for steelhead but I'm sure they'll catch just about anything. I'll be using these for casting spey rods on the long island sound in CT. Could definitely see also casting these on my 8wt single hand sink tip line on a lake somewhere.

Purchased these for banging pike in our michigan lake. I was apprehensive to believe that the cheap price would afford a quality fly. I was pleasantly surprised. Received 'em yesterday and tied one on (loop knot, 30# fluro leader) last night. Not too heavy and not too light - casts easily. Long enough hair to impart nice action. And the head/eye wraps are secured with a seemingly "glob" of glue which may offend some, but not the pike or their teeth! A more expensive equivalent rarely survives a pike hook-up. Mine last night shows NO damage after playing two fish last night! It's still tied on and ready for tonight.

Reallly really awesome flies for striper fishing! Hook is strong enough for big fish but will bend out if stuck and pliers bend them right back! Only thing I say bad about them is you need to keep some super glue with you to glue the head onto the hook sometimes.
