Excellent heaters made in Germany!
I've raised fish for many years and have to say the Eheim products are great. I have owned this brand heaters for probably 20 years and they have always been great performers. Very accurate temperature settings and very tight control on water temperature fluctuations as long as you install them properly (vertical near water flow). They cost a little more than the bargain brand heaters but are worth every penny. These are made in Germany (not china) and will last you a long time. I would recommend them to anyone. Nothing is worse than to discover your bargain priced heater failed and killed off the valuable fish in one of your aquariums! If I had to give any negatives about the heaters, I would say that the color is a bit loud. They used to all be green with a green cord and they blended really nicely with the décor in a well laid out aquarium. Now the blue color with white lettering and red ring is not as visually appealing but I would not take away a star for that. I've included a pic of the heater in my tank so you can see what they look like in real life. Oh and this is not one of those free items in exchange for my review... I paid for this heater!

Best Heater Ever!
I have had quite a lot of heaters for my various fishtanks but this is DEFINITELY worth the price. It has a great range of temperatures that you can choose from to heat water up to. It's completely submersible and the cable is protected all the way up until the wall socket, for those very long or deep tanks. A light tells you when it's on and shuts off when the water doesn't need to be heated. The heater itself is a long cylinder and has a holder with suction cups that are all removable so you can clean each piece. After almost one year, though, the suction cups are giving out and need to be replaced.

Excellent heater
This heater appears to very well made. It has worked flawlessly. My only complaint is that the suction cups fail rather quickly and no longer work after a year or so. Same for both eheim heaters I own.

I'm very disappointed about this brand
I did lots of studies before deciding to purchase EHEIM Jager 75W heater for my 20 gallon tank. It looks elegant when I opened the box and started to work immediately. But after about 1 hour I noticed the light was still on and the temperature already rose to 82 when I set it on 78. That's unusual! Maybe it's +2 or -2 off and I can bear with it? I turned the mark to 72 and hopefully this heater can stop heating. But I was wrong! No matter how I play with it, it just kept heating non-stop! Within 2 hours my tank is 86 and it's still continously heating! I'm very disappointed about this brand. I wonder why it received so many good reviews. Maybe I'm just unlucky and got a defective item. But no more EHEIM Jager! I'll try Pro 100W with Aqueon.

Very Stable Temperature
This heater appears to be much more accurate than some others. We've had problems for years with the heater in our 20 gallon tank with temperatures appearing to vary by as much as 15 degrees from the set temperature. Earlier this year when our old heater seemed to be trying to boil our fish for us, we decided it was time for an upgrade. After doing a lot of research on various aquarium forums and review websites, we decided to go with the EHEIM Jager and haven't been disappointed. We decided to upgrade our thermometer at the same time as the heater so we could get a more accurate reading of how the temperature was maintaining, and have noticed only about a 1 degree total fluctuation from the low to high points, despite having to use the heater in colder weather where it was having to work more as well as warmer weather where the set temperature was only a few degrees warmer than the house's ambient (AC induced) temperature. The more steady temperature seems to be helping both our fish and plants. We only use it in a freshwater tank, so I can't say if it would be stable enough for saltwater fish and corals - which I understand are notoriously more picky - but it has been great for us.

Maintains constant tank temp against varying room temp (75W heater in 10 Gallon tank).
I bought the 75W heater to replace a smaller heater for a 10 gallon freshwater aquarium, and have been very pleased with its performance. The thermostat does a great job regulating how often the heater is on to maintain a constant temperature in the tank. In the morning, when the room is 63, the tank is 79. In the evening when the room is 77, the tank is 79. Such a change from constantly having to manually adjust the frequency the last heater turned on! The dial to set the temperature was off by a few degrees (reads 75 when the temp is actually 79), but the dial can be manually calibrated to read the real temp if you have a mind. Personally, I don't care what it reads as long as it keeps the temperature constant.

Great for brewing sour beer!
Disclaimer: modifying any equipment containing a heating element is dangerous and stupid. Don't do it. I'm using this to maintain a 110-120 degree Fahrenheit temperature in a 5 gallon carboy for sour beer brewing. There is a little plastic nub you can easily cut off to get around the temperature limit the unit ships with, so you don't have to worry about breaking any watertight seals to make this work for you. I've had no problems with its operation so far. I like this solution better than fermwrap because the heat is produced inside the carboy, not around it. It's probably more efficient, but I have no data to back this up. I know that I am running a risk by overheating the unit, but it's UL tested (and hey, German engineering!), so I know it has some capability to operate outside of the intended specs. I'll update if anything goes wrong.

THE ONLY CONSISTENT HEATER
I bought this for a 5 gal tank I have for a betta. First, let me say that I have purchased so many heaters because I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it. Every heater I purchased prior to this one would break and leave my little Ceviche (that's my betta's name) swimming in cold water. Now, I don't have a lot of money but I do have a lot of love for Ceviche (both my pet and the food) so I gave in and bought this for her. I have not had an issue with the temperature of the water since and Ceviche is a happy little betta and I'll never go cheap on her again.
